We discovered a few cool things on our recent trip to Smithers and Hudson Bay Mountain. First, a local pro tip: catch the Mountain Bus for only $5 roundtrip up to the mountain and down after the day. But if you miss the bus at the end of the day, you can always take the non-motorized option of skiing down to town.

We got up early to catch the shuttle bus and were treated to a pretty pink light illuminating Hudson Bay Mountain, that alpenglow that only means one thing. It’s going to be a great day on the slopes. You won’t regret waking up early.

Hop on the T-Bar to the only lift on the resort that deposits you on some steep and deep runs that will leave you grinning for days. We lost all sense of time popping pillows of pow, skiing through the trees and catching some crazy beautiful views from up here.

Not ready to call it the end of our carving day and rather than take the bus, we took the ski-out back into town. With side hits galore, and a nicely groomed trail, it was the perfect way to wrap up an awesome day at Hudson Bay Mountain.

I can’t stop thinking about those sweet endless fresh stashes of snow and the moments where we were shoulder deep in spray.

Don’t forget to check out the terrain park. It’s perfect for beginners and is just keep getting built up throughout the winter. The soft snow makes it super forgiving but it’s also beautiful run through even if you don’t hit any of the jibs.
